SCA Pondering....
Dec. 30th, 2008 07:23 pmSo pretty much the only event I am absolutely committed to in 2009 at the moment is Calontir's cooks symposium. I am even thinking about a class on sources for period or odd ingredients (geared towards newer cooks, letting them see/taste the odd and providing suggested sources).
Beyond that....meh? I didn't put in an entry for Queen's prize because I didn't really know who to talk to about it locally (since I would probably do food, and the arts types I am closest to are not food-centric) and I didn't really have time to sit and work out ideads before hand. There's technically still time, but...
I have met a couple people in Calontir outside of the local group, but I am not really comfortable travelling on my own in a kingdom that seems to rely so much more on crash space than camping necessarily. So I really am not sure what else I am going to in kingdom.
Gulf Wars is also kind of a big question mark. I was hoping the fiance and I might debut the pavillion, but a) its still not done and b) he's making rumbling that his Organic Chem II profs (lecture and lab) might load him with work over the break. I am also not sure where we would camp without hurting people's feelings. If I am going by myself, my car really, really doesn't have the capability to carry the pavillion poles. I still have my wee modern tent, which would be fine, but there is still the question of where to camp.
With the pavillion, I am almost wondering if I should just sell it. I've had it almost 4 years now, and we HAVE NEVER USED IT...which is sort of Peter's fault and sort of mine, but at this point, I feel like a nag when I bring it up. Because the next camping event we would both be going to will maybe by Triumphe...if we bother this year...so... Anymore, it just pisses me off.
I got new cookery books for my birthday (a month late, thanks sis). That's about all I am excited about at this point.
